If you are looking for a short trek in the Himalayan region of Nepal, Poon Hill Trekking is ideal for you.
You will trek through the beautiful villages of the Gurung community and get a glimpse of their lifestyle. The trek isn’t so difficult, given that most part of the trail is well-paved with stone slabs.
The atmosphere is especially beautiful in spring. Furthermore, the Rhododendron forest is embellished with multiple colors of Rhododendron and yellow-white Magnolia flowers painting an even more diverse picture. Also, expect to go through dense vegetation and a lot of suspension bridges.
The scenery visible is of the Dhaulagiri range and the Annapurna Range. Specifically, the peaks visible are Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal, and Tukche, among other peaks.

Tour Plan

Hello, Kathmandu

You will land at Tribhuvan International Airport. After getting a visa on arrival, you will be escorted to the hotel by our representative. After a brief orientation meeting, it is now time to enjoy dinner with a cultural performance at a hotel of our choice. Jet lagged and tired, you will call it a day by now.

Drive to Pokhara

It takes about 6 hours to get to Pokhara by tourist bus. We will make all the arrangements, and all you should do is appreciate the beautiful greenery and the gorging Trishuli river on the way. You can tour around Pokhara, which boasts of its ability to host hundreds of tourists. Overnight at Pokhara.

Drive to Ulleri and trek to Ghorepani

A private vehicle will take us to Ulleri. Some trekking groups start their trek right away from Nayapul, which is nearer. But since the trail from Nayapul to Ulleri is mostly dusty, we will avoid this trail inside the comfort of a vehicle. The trek officially starts from Ulleri. You will cross a few streams and pass through pleasant vegetation. We will reach Ghodepani in about four hours. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Early morning hike to Poon Hill, trek to Tadapani

Ghorepani is a bustling settlement and is a meeting point for the numerous trails in the Annapurna Region. There are numerous lodges and shops in the region. We will climb up to Poon Hill to see today’s sunrise. Our trek starts pretty early in the dawn at about 4 am. The hike up to Poon Hill takes about an hour. Poon Hill is a beautiful viewpoint in the region that also has an artificial viewing tower built at the top. Some of the notable peaks seen from here are Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal, and Tukche. The elaborate Annapurna range appears extra glorious and gold-plated during sunrise. A lot of pictures will be taken. We will then return to our lodge at Ghorepani and sit for a warm breakfast. After breakfast, you will follow the trail to Tadapani. In about an hour, you will reach Deurali which is at the same elevation as Poon Hill, and hence the views are also similar. Passing along an undulating trail through Rhododendron and Hemlock vegetation, we will cross a small stream and reach Banthati by lunchtime. After lunch, we will embark on an easy trail that is fairly flat. The trail declines for a while and we will reach another hill. Then the trail ascends to our final destination for today: Tadapani. Overnight at Tadapani.

Trek back to Ghandruk and drive to Pokhara

Ghandruk is a beautiful tourist place. It snows during winter and the atmosphere gets even more beautiful. We will embark on the trek to this place after breakfast. The route is fairly easy, flat, and passes through a jungle. After we reach Bhaisi Kharka, we will have to descend for about 1.5 hours and reach Ghandruk by lunchtime. This is where the trek ends. We will board a bus to Pokhara, a beautiful city we will reach by evening. Overnight in Pokhara.

Free Exploration Day

There are a lot of adventure options in this beautiful city of lakes. Apart from the obvious Fewa Lake boating and sunrise view from Sarangkot, the following are the available options: Rafting Bunjee Jumping Zip Flying Cycling Ultralight Flying and Paragliding Sky Diving Yoga Since this is a free and self-customizable day, all the team members won’t be at the same location. Thus, after an all-inclusive breakfast, you are free to take lunch and dinner at a place of your choice. There are numerous popular restaurants and delicious cuisines to choose from. Overnight in Pokhara.

Drive to Kathmandu

You will take a domestic flight to Kathmandu that takes around 30 minutes. After a quick refreshment, Kathmandu is waiting in all its beauty for you to explore. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, our representative will drop you at the airport. You are on your way home now.
