  2. Day2 Kathmandu Valley sightseeing/ Trek preparation

Once in Kathmandu, the first thing anyone does is visit different temples, which Kathmandu is famous for. Therefore, early in the morning, our representatives will take you to visit Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath. Both of these temples are listed in the World Heritage Sites list by UNESCO. Pashupatinath is a Hindu cremation site devoted to Lord Shiva, the god of creation and destruction. Numerous monkeys roam the temple.

The site is managed by the Pashupatinath Development Trust. Similarly, Bouddhanath is a Buddhist stupa established While Pashupatinath is established along the banks of the holy river Bagmati, Bouddhanath is the largest stupa in South Asia. Thus, both are sites worth including in our itinerary. We will then have a detailed session that revolves around trekking, the dos, and the don’ts after lunch.

  3. Day3 Kathmandu to Dharapani (1860m/6102ft) Jeep Drive approx. ( 8- 9) hours

It takes around 5 hours to drive to Besisahar from Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway. The drive through the Prithvi Highway is a pleasant one with the beautiful scenery of hills and the Trishuli River. From Besisahar, we will embark on a 2-additional hour’s drive alongside the Marshyangdi River. The roadway passes through beautiful waterfalls and hills. We will then reach Dharapani, where we will stay at a tea house.

  4. Day4 Trek to Chame (2610m/8562ft) walk approx. (5-6) hours

On the fourth day, you will ascend to another checkpoint named Chame (2610 meters). Firstly, you will pass a valley with two settlements: Bagarshap and Denayaque. After that, you will climb to Timang village, which is quite challenging, but the views of Mt. Manaslu and Peak 29, while we have lunch after arriving, are awesome. We will then descend through the vegetation of fir and pine. Trek through Koto village finally brings us to Chame. Tonight will be spent in a lodge in Chame.

  5. Day5 Trek to Pisang (3200m/10498ft) walk approx (5-6) hours

Trekking through diverse landscapes and scenery brings us to Bhratang. The commercial apple farm in Bhratang produces more than 200,000 kgs of apples annually. The highlight of the trek is the Phaugdi Dada, an impressive sight of the massive curved rock. While the river Marshyangdi is to our left, Phaugdi Dada stands 150m from the river surface. Trekking through rhododendrons and pine vegetation will finally bring us to Dhukur Pokhari. After lunch in Dhukur Pokhari, we will skip the road track and reach Upper Pisang. The day’s activity pretty much ends after we explore a Buddhist monastery.

  6. Day6 Trek to Manang via the upper route (3540m/11614ft) and walk approx (6-7) hours

Today, we follow the higher route which helps us to acclimatize our bodies to the thin air of the mountains. This route leads us via a steep climb to Ghyaru. A gentle climb brings us to Nawal village. This route offers panoramic mountain views of the Annapurna range. From Nawal, we drop down to the main trail bypassing the pasture fields, and reach the ancient monastery of Braga. We will have a tea break and explore the monastery of Braga. Afterward, we will follow the undulating trail to Manang. Overnight in Manang.

  7. Day7 Acclimatization and rest day

The day is allocated to acclimatize and rest for the upcoming days. The place where we stay is at an elevation of 3,500m. There is a rule in the mountains to walk high but sleep low. This is done to ensure that your body is subjected to an even more difficult altitude than where you sleep. Thus, we will climb a cliff to the north of Manang. There is a Gompa habituated by a single monk. We can sit and listen to the monk if you are interested. The view from the Gompa is fantastic, with the beautiful settlement of Manang below, the Gangapurna Lake, and the elaborate Mountain range to the west. We will then descend to our lodge for lunch. After lunch, you are free to roam around. In the evening, we will go and explore Gangapurna Lake from close. This lake originates from the Gangapurna glacier. Return to the lodge and spend the night.

You deserve a brief rest after lunch before we ascend to a higher elevation for acclimatizing. Back to hotel at Yak Kharka and night stay.

  9. Day9 Trek to Phedi or Thorongla High Camp (5416 meters)

The trail continues north to a place that is the origin of the river Marshyangdi. The alpine landscape is a tough one to master, and we will reach a place with a teashop for a tea break. The remaining trail is undulating and is landslide-prone, because of which you will have to be extra careful to watch out for eroding landmass and boulders. We will finally reach Phedi. Overnight at either Phedi or High Camp, which is 35 minutes away from Phedi. Since tomorrow is a big day, your guide will brief you on a few important things before you sleep.

Thorongla Pass is the highlight of the entire trip, and you will witness a 360-degree view of the snow-capped mountains. Trekkers and travelers hang prayer flags. You might want to click a picture with the stone carving there with the name and elevation of the place on it. The trail then descends and the downward slope continues till we reach the bottom of the hill. It is time to eat something hot and rest briefly. The descent continues and we reach Muktinath.
